Wichita Technical Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). WTI Wichita is approved for operation by the Kansas Board of Regents. WTI Tulsa is licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Private and Vocational Schools. WTI Joplin is licensed by the Missouri Department of Higher Education. WTI has been approved for veteran training.

If you are independent (not claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return), you will need to bring a copy of your current federal tax return. If you are dependent, you need to bring a copy of your current federal tax return and a copy of your parent’s tax return.


If you answer yes to any of these questions, you are an independent student:

  • Are you 24 years of age as of January 1st?
  • Are you married?
  • Do you have children for whom you provide more than half of their total financial support?
  • Do you have dependents that live with you for whom you provide more than half of their total financial support?
  • Were you an orphan or ward of the state until the age of 18?
  • Are you a veteran of the US Armed Forces?
  • Are you currently on active duty with the US Armed Forces?
  • Are you homeless or at risk of homelessness?
